Presented at SAMoCA at JAX, A Night of a Lifetime explores the wedding ceremony through contemporary art.

Within this exhibition, Shourouk Rhaïem presents Le Trousseau, an immersive installation reflecting on the transition into married life.

Composed of everyday objects traditionally offered to a bride — kitchen utensils, perfumes, and domestic items — the installation evokes the trousseau as both a gesture of celebration and a projection of future life. Bathed in light, the objects appear as desirable gifts, embodying the excitement and radiance of the wedding night.

As the perception shifts, these same objects reveal another narrative: one of expectation and assigned roles. What first appears as abundance and promise gradually unfolds as a framework shaping the condition of the married woman — between domestic responsibility, beauty, and motherhood.

Through crystallization, these objects are transformed into luminous sculptures, suspended between enchantment and constraint.
